Drawing Challenge day 23

image

What inspires you? So many things actually, but today… 1980s movies.

The music, the costumes, the Molly Ringwald. It’s pretty much what every day with me is about.

I was so happy to draw this pretty in pink inspired doodle!

Drawing challenge #15

image

Today’s drawing challenge was to draw an infamous villain.
But I was having a really hard time thinking of a villain. The first villain I ever think of is the Shadow Man on the stranger danger sign. And according to me if you’re weird and creepy that is exactly how you should look.
But I didn’t want to draw something so creepy.
And them I remembered good old fashion comic books and so I went with a favorite villain… Catwoman. And not just any Catwoman, the super glamorous and incredibly gorgeous Julie Newmar.
And what is duplicity is she up to??? Turning little kitties to the dark side. And I know Elliott would become evil… if she fed him crunchy food.
So I should feed him before he tries to take over Gotham.

Who do you love?

Christmas season is literally the most stressful time of the year.

I think it’s scientifically proven… or something like that.

It’s the time of year where all I want to do is decorate and hide from the world of people who will stab you for a cashmere scarf.

So as you can imagine that means I’ve been watching a lot of tv and decorating… Between that and snapchat… that’s like 87% of my day.

But I’ve been watching totally classy old TV shows like “That Girl” “Golden Girls” and more shows that have “girl” in the title.

And I’ve lost days watching repeats of “I love Lucy” and so I was inspired to draw her in all her technicolor glory:

I wish all my collars were popped like a proper gangster

Anyways…

Happy 9 days till Christmas

Tom Hanks Syndrome

I feel like this title sounds a lot more serious than any of this post really could be…

Today I watch like my 12th Tom Hanks Movie of the year.

Which really takes up the movie time between me watching “Scream Queens” and 80s Brat-pack movies.

So I found my well watched dvd of “Sleepless in Seattle” while I started to draw… and what I was really surprised with is how really charming Meg Ryan makes stalking look…

Like if you think about it, she was really stalking him. She flew across the country and watched him and his son playing on the beach.

He didn’t know who she was… like at all. He was just trying to chill with his son.

But anyways, she was charming and cute, and she peeled apples in a very unusual way… and it worked out for all of them.

And, all in all, the movie is still really cute.

So that is really nice.

One thing about the movie that is also super cute is the music.

My sister was like really concerned that I knew the lyrics to “A WInk and  Smile”… but I’m pretty sure it’s on a list of like the most adorable tunes of all time.

Thanks Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan for being so super cute. I’m going to go watch Scream Queens now.

Throne Games

Does anybody out there watch Game of Thrones?

I know that is a silly question because… it so popular it has a monopoly theme version!

My friend Connie who is a big fan asked me to make her a doodle of Jon Snow from the show so she could make it into a shirt.

And here I will admit, that I don’t watch the show… but when I saw this guy when figuring out what to draw… I was like, I could see why people really like this show…

Kit Harington is really dreamy.

And if it’s all him and Peter Dinklage… I could see everyone liking it.

Maybe I should give it a good binge watching.

Monsters University

Sometimes I make things for kids parties.

It’s kind of my favorite thing to do.

This was one of my favorites:

I tried to make it like a golden book illustration.

Fun Fact: I have a small print of this at my work desk and sometimes I stare deeply in to Mike’s soulful eye.

He helps me create all my projects.

Pretty In Pink

This is the second in the my office as  John Hughes movie.

My friend Mimi is always giving me advice, and listening to my romantic foibles that sound like only John Hughes could create.

Here we are as Andie and Iona… and I’m pretty sure I’m telling her about that cute guy who’s always staring at me…

But when he talks to me our conversations are always awkward and mostly about chicken.

I loved drawing Iona’s apartment. If Mimi didn’t have a family I know her house would look like this

Subliminal Dressing

The title of this post seems a little sexier than my posts probably are. So how am I going to combine “subliminal messages” with clothing and my blinding optimism together? Well brace yourself this blog is about to get *snaps fingers together* thrilling.

Well, let’s just say I discovered based on the way I dress to work, I can control the conversations had in the office. It’s happened a few times in a few outfits, and I think its hilarious. My clothing has caused long discussions of the Wedding Singer, Wonder Woman, 80s teen movies, and 13 going on 30. Basically my wheelhouse of interests since I usually try to avoid talking to my coworkers about anything resembling my personal life (sorry Amber, this is why I enjoy my corner seat… I only talk to you!)

Anyways a few weeks ago I went shopping and got found this dress. It made me feel like singing about how pretty I feel. Basically I was like channeling Maria from “West Side Story.” When I left the dressing room this other store customer told me sassily “That dress is all you.” I was thrilled. I bought it and I felt pity on any girl that wasn’t in that dress (not really, that’s a little harsh.)

So I finally got the time in the morning to wear my dress and make myself look like a human. I got to work and by 9:30 Johnny was snapping his fingers and talking about the gangs in “West Side Story.” Only an hour and a half in and I was a success. We discussed Bernardo and his purple suits… and then we pondered why any gangs would pick orange and purple as their colors. I mean those are like soda colors. Like Kool-Aid flavors. And really nonthreatening, btw. I mean imagine being accosted by a man in a purple well fitted suit. What can he really do to you… give you a makeover? Not let you go to the dance?

I feel pretty witty and bright too!

And just in case you want to put on a red dress and sing this song… you don’t even have to go far:

Also, don’t tell Chino… he’s totally lame.

Whitest Sneakers

This doodle is more like a fan shout out than a personal thing.

Everyone who watches TV knows the Office is ending after 9 season’s of being on the air. And well I think I may have mentioned it before on this site I’m a fan of the crazy antics of Dunder-Mifflin all the characters are so zany yet grounded that we can relate and feel like we know them.

Personally, I work with a girl like Kelly,

I won’t name names.

a guy like Ryan,

I get this face every time I walk into our annex.

an Andy/Dwight,

He may be the most professional of us all… still not naming names.

and even a Pete.

Just because he’s new doesn’t mean he’s any less important.

I have always related to early season’s Pam and well now that Pam is grown up and has it together, I can relate more to Erin. I have always loved to draw, and I’m a little bit on the kooky side, and I am awful at Scrabble. And I love to assist in pranking  our Andy/Dwight as much as humanly possible, and he CANNOT take a joke.

I have sounded like this on many an occasion,… this is probably why I’m not let around a lot of clients…

So in this Office nostalgic post… I share with the lovely internet, a Pam Beesly drawing that I made very ironically, while at work:

Thanks for the giggles Pam!

Also I wonder who could guess which coworkers are which :)
