Birthday Flowers

I was going to post something that had to due with my never ending cavalcade of life failures. But after I had lunch with a friend I realized it really isn’t so bad. I wouldn’t be who I am without failures, and there was no way I wouldn’t have tried.

It’s just one of those things… that just didn’t work out for Ol’ Laurie Lue

BUT!!!!

Then this morning I heard it was one of my fashion icons/ cosmic twin’s birthday!!!

And I live for Birthday’s…

Especially… Brandon Flowers!!!

Not only is he the lead singer of the “Killers”… but he also has a penchant for the Cure and wearing fashion while carving out some melodies of his own that have a special place in my soul.

Happy Birthday Spaceman

He also reminds me that I really need to get a gold lame leopard print tuxedo… just for funsies.

Happy Wednesday good people of the internet,

Monday’s are for Mermaids

I needed to make a post that wasn’t in the scope of my drawing competition!

Which probably means… it’s going to be a mermaid.

They are really what I’ve been making in my spare time… so like my mind is all nautical like all of the time.

And that’s just alright with me… it keeps my head out of space for like 30 minutes at a time.

So I present to you proudly, my Elliott and me self portrait:

it’s like my new favorite thing

Happy Monday!

Today’s drawing competition is going to be an exciting one :)

With Whip Cream on Top

I have been full of really great ideas lately.
And all of them have to do with ice cream.

It may be that I’m hungry, or that it takes to long to really get cold in California… But all I can really think of is ice cream animals.

And all I can think about when I’m working is Mermaids…

So I combined the two, and I feel really good about it.

Meet ice cream mermaid.

She is strawberry, and sprinkly.

I imagine she is like a baker mermaid, and that she smells really good (and totally not like gross fishies)

She’s like the strawberry shortcake of the sea.

And her favorite band is the Mer-Cure which features Robert Smith of the Sea. (I really want to draw him as a mermaid now)

Just like Candy

Wednesday is the perfect time for something sweet!

I had some time to doodle since I’m working on building up my graphic design portfolio…

And I really wanted cotton candy… so this happened.

And someday it will be a part of a sticker set!

America!

I would personally like to say the following 2 things

1. I love patriotic Holidays.

2. I like days when I’m not so preoccupied with work, and tired from all the chaos that is contained in one office building that I get to draw.

This doesn’t happen very often nowadays.

So let’s get into this drawing. I won’t say anything sarcastic about the US, because it’s pretty cool and if it wasn’t for like 15,000 different cultures coming here to exist…. I know I certainly wouldn’t.

So Happy Birthday America, and for the next 48 hours everything will be fireworks, red white & blue, powdered wigs, and Alexander Hamilton look-a-like contests.

Also not having to go to work and getting to draw is so amazing that it hurts!

Happy Mothers Day!

I hope everyone out there took a minute or 2 to think about how great mom’s are.

And here’s a little doodle to go along with that sentiment!

Happy Sunday to everyone, boy do I wish the weekend was longer.

Move over Queen “B” here’s Queen “E”

My friend Elisa has a really great imagination…

Not like my weird imagination which makes a really boring office into a musical in my head. (which is sometimes how I get through my day)

But she can replicate and create beautiful costumes from her head.

And then she tells me about them and I sketch them and help her visualize all her costume dreams.

This is her dream of being a queen that rivals even Beyonce.

I hope she makes it and wears it all the time.

Queen Elisa at Halloween.

Queen Elisa at the Red Lobster.

Queen Elisa at Friday meetings.

Thanks for giving me things to draw other than my stuck at my desk related despair.

Also Hi Joseph, who is secretly reading this at work. My back still hurts, and I want ice cream.

Working Hard and Stuff

Hey Everyone, and by everyone I mean the 4-6 people who view this bloggity on a regular basis.
Can you notice anything different?
Hint: Look at the address bar.
Yes I have finally made this site and official thang. You can just type in http://www.viciously-sweet.com instead of searching or clicking about to find it. AWESOME!

I am also working on making my book of doodles. Which will be purchased by at least my mother. So that is also exciting.

But don’t worry, I’m not getting to professional. I’m still thinking about what mischief I can be up to today.
Maybe I’ll post more about that later.
