Yeah… it’s been a long time.
I don’t know if anyone comes on here anymore.
But I still kinda exist in the world. And I’m always making art.
But I’m not always writing stories, which is kind of a bummer… and I’m wickedly out of practice.
For a quick countdown of updates of what’s happened in my life since my last post read below:
I have have several new jobs- one of them is moderately successful freelancer of illustration
I have helped several companies make graphics for marketing purposes
I’m making a book
I have gone from not visiting New York ever to visiting it 2 different season of the last year. I took a train between states in the United States and that was weird.
I have seen seasons… and discovered there aren’t really any in California.
I never grew taller
I made a stunning mermaid Halloween costume
I learned about premiere league soccer
I have an instagram where sometimes I even show my own face: viciouslysweet08
I’m still obsessed with music and illustrating people who I see every day
It’s good to be back,
Good Afternoon, or evening or whatever time it is…
Today is a glorious doodle challenge that is right in the ballpark of things I like. This ballpark is of course, draw a circus performer!
I chose the rare and lucrative hippopotamus and parasol act… which may not be real anywhere but my heart.
And I have such a work headache that I’m glad I’m not an engineer. Like why is there so many forms and calculations??? I just want to circus!
I have been such a mess as of late that I haven’t had the chance to post my drawing postie from yesterday.
So… the prompt was to draw a fairy tale character.
And i was sitting with a blanket on watching dvr’d Agnet Carter episodes from this week and I was like hmm what should I draw.
And then Elliott jumped on me, and I was like… I got this!
And so I drew possibly the worst fairy of all time:
Imagine if cats granted magical wishes…? I think the whole world would be cat crunches and string
I am so stuck in summer.
I can’t believe it wants to end!
I made this doodle as an homage to summer and to Jimmy who is obsessed with all things flamingo:
I imagine that if we were birds Jimmy would be a flamingo. All tall and eating shrimp.
If I were a bird, I’d be a hummingbird, just small and never staying in one place.
What can I say… I’m a simple girl who likes when fruit is kind.
One of my new coworkers is very into food and he’s been so into Oinkster’s burger week this week.
In honor of him and Oinkster… I bring to you
“Sean’s Fancy Burger”
It looked exactly like this and tasted like heaven.
So I have been in the center of a lot of changes recently.
And I am really behind on even mentioning birthdays, or anything of that nature! I will totally make that up some other time, probably with my award winning Paul Simon impersonation…
But today is an exciting day!!! It’s a birthday of one of my favorite people of all times….
Although at this point I haven’t worked with him in over a year, I think he’s a magical creature. It was always claimed at my first job that I played favorites… and that my favorite person in the office was Dab.
And now that I don’t work there… Duh! I mean anyone could tell that he was totally my favorite.
Quite simply in my book, Dab always wins. He can win any game, any argument (unless it’s with me), and even extra food that I don’t feel like eating. Dab… wins it all!
And to celebrate the shear spiciness of my friend of the last 8 years, I give you this simple doodle:
Happy Birthday! I hope your year is magical.
And yes… the doodle is too cutesy, but as you know cutesy is just my style :)
This is a birthday shout out to everyone’s favorite fan of Santa Barbara!
It’s Jimmy’s *ahem* *ahem* 30th *cough* *cough* birthday!*
And in the spirit of making fun lists
Here’s 10 fun facts about the birthday boy:
1. Jimmy is afraid of the internet… and is one of 4 people I know who doesn’t have a Facebook or a Linkedin… or even a myspace.
2. Jimmy used to collect postcards… I imagine he has enough to cover the walls of the Grand Canyon.
3. Jimmy is the owner of 3 weenie dogs… but doesn’t like Hot Dog on a Stick.
4. He is the only guy I know who knows the words to “Waterloo” by Abba
5.He is like an encyclopedia of California style Spanish Colonial style homes… which actually comes in handier than you think it would.
6.Jimmy used to be the tallest guy I knew… but now I work with someone who is 6′-9″
7. Jimmy doesn’t like seafood… but he will watch “the Little Mermaid” with you.
8. He’s one of the only people (besides me) who likes the movie “Bachelorette” better than “Bridesmaids”. It’s a great movie, btw.
9. Jimmy has more sweaters than I do… I think he has 305** to be exact.
10. He also makes fun art… and you can see it
Happy Birthday Jimmy
*his birthday is actually on the 1st… but I was being wooed by pizza, chicken wings, and Lenny Kravitz.
**I exaggerated he only has 285
Last week my mother made macaroni salad… and it was really good.
It gave me a new life goal:
