I Walk the line

Work is a very boring place.

It just is. Actually, it really depends on who is there with you to make it a great experience. But they can’t be with you all the times…

When I’m at my desk for example I really have no one to chat with. So, I am prone to daydream ,and sometimes I carry that to other places in the office.

Namely, the restroom.

Now I’m going to refrain from 97% of the gross things and stories I can tell you about our restroom.

But one of  the best features of our lavatory situation is that… the toilets don’t flush.

They just don’t.

You have to wait and flush the toilet 2-3 times to make sure that all your business is history. (And honestly, most people don’t)

So you have a lot of time to decide what you want to do…

I know people fix their hair, write a few texts…

But not me… I daydream.

Sometimes I practice bellydance arms. Sometimes I count the tiles.

Sometimes I pretend the grout lines are a tightrope to walk on.

And boy oh boy, do you have the time to perfect your balance in there.

Move over Queen “B” here’s Queen “E”

My friend Elisa has a really great imagination…

Not like my weird imagination which makes a really boring office into a musical in my head. (which is sometimes how I get through my day)

But she can replicate and create beautiful costumes from her head.

And then she tells me about them and I sketch them and help her visualize all her costume dreams.

This is her dream of being a queen that rivals even Beyonce.

I hope she makes it and wears it all the time.

Party Like A Jimmy

This is a birthday shout out to everyone’s favorite fan of Santa Barbara!

It’s Jimmy’s *ahem* *ahem* 30th *cough* *cough* birthday!*

And in the spirit of making fun lists

Here’s 10 fun facts about the birthday boy:

1. Jimmy is afraid of the internet… and is one of 4 people I know who doesn’t have a Facebook or a Linkedin… or even a myspace.

2. Jimmy used to collect postcards… I imagine he has enough to cover the walls of the Grand Canyon.

3. Jimmy is the owner of 3 weenie dogs… but doesn’t like Hot Dog on a Stick.

4. He is the only guy I know who knows the words to “Waterloo” by Abba

5.He is like an encyclopedia of California style Spanish Colonial style homes… which actually comes in handier than you think it would.

6.Jimmy used to be the tallest guy I knew… but now I work with someone who is 6′-9″

7. Jimmy doesn’t like seafood… but he will watch “the Little Mermaid” with you.

8. He’s one of the only people  (besides me) who likes the movie “Bachelorette” better than “Bridesmaids”. It’s a great movie, btw.

9. Jimmy has more sweaters than I do… I think he has 305** to be exact.

Scandal

I was devastated by the Scandal half season finale…

Mostly because I spent the last few months watching the entire season,and now I caught up and knew everything.

And much like everyone else… now I have to wait for new episodes… and that is the worst.

So finally, tonight I get to see what I’ve been waiting for since December… More Scott Foley!

I’ve had this song in my head for like 2 weeks.

I’ve been listening to it in the car.

On my headphones on repeat.

On my phone at work without headphones.

In my bed, instead of sleeping.

In the morning when I’m brushing my teeth.

And even while I’m eating chicken.

I tried to find out if I could make a career listening to this song until my ears stopped working… but I haven’t found one yet.

I made this little gnome at work because I was very bored.

My mind wandered to what it would be like to be a gnome

And I decided that in California it would be a pretty nice gig to have…

and the only way I’d want to go somewhere else is if I were hanging around with Amelie’s flight attendant friend.

The Beagle

I was thinking about my life before Elliott today… when I had a dog.

She was really cute. She liked to eat pepperoni and watch tv, she was the best thing ever.

And she lived in a little dog house that matched the playhouse I had when I was a kid.

I would tell you more about her… but she’s my answer to every password.
