Incredibly Loud and very very close

I was commenting at work how everyone is so loud.

And then I got told by my friend, I was also one of the loud people.

At first I felt a little shocked… me loud? And then I realized it’s because everyone in the company comes to visit me at my desk…. like everyone.

People from different floors come to see what I’m up to.

It isn’t too bad, especially if they come to visit me and bring me no additional work… if they have more work, they can find another friend.

America!

I would personally like to say the following 2 things

1. I love patriotic Holidays.

2. I like days when I’m not so preoccupied with work, and tired from all the chaos that is contained in one office building that I get to draw.

This doesn’t happen very often nowadays.

So let’s get into this drawing. I won’t say anything sarcastic about the US, because it’s pretty cool and if it wasn’t for like 15,000 different cultures coming here to exist…. I know I certainly wouldn’t.

So Happy Birthday America, and for the next 48 hours everything will be fireworks, red white & blue, powdered wigs, and Alexander Hamilton look-a-like contests.

Also not having to go to work and getting to draw is so amazing that it hurts!

Business Lunch

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I’m in the middle of a deadline and well in my new office no one really talks.

Which is good and bad.

Bad: I have to take extra time to find things out because everyone is too busy to ask…

Good: I have a lot of time to doodle… because everyone is too busy even to lunch!

Well one thing is I can say everyone seems very nice, especially on Fridays when they get to have lunch away from their desks :)

I Walk the line

Work is a very boring place.

It just is. Actually, it really depends on who is there with you to make it a great experience. But they can’t be with you all the times…

When I’m at my desk for example I really have no one to chat with. So, I am prone to daydream ,and sometimes I carry that to other places in the office.

Namely, the restroom.

Now I’m going to refrain from 97% of the gross things and stories I can tell you about our restroom.

But one of  the best features of our lavatory situation is that… the toilets don’t flush.

They just don’t.

You have to wait and flush the toilet 2-3 times to make sure that all your business is history. (And honestly, most people don’t)

So you have a lot of time to decide what you want to do…

I know people fix their hair, write a few texts…

But not me… I daydream.

Sometimes I practice bellydance arms. Sometimes I count the tiles.

Sometimes I pretend the grout lines are a tightrope to walk on.

And boy oh boy, do you have the time to perfect your balance in there.

Happy Monday!

the 29th

It totally happened.

I turned 29. And it was good.

                                        29 and feeling strangely fine

I have never really feared aging… maybe because I feel happy about pretty much everyday.

And apparently everyone at work thought I turned 23… so super bonus?

I got treated very kindly by my new coworkers and friends and…. really just had a great time.

I usually use this post to reflect on the last 12 months and set a few new goals… which I will happily do if you continue to read on

Things I learned at 28:

♥ That I’m not all together that weird.  I was made to think that most people aren’t terribly creative or prone to fantasy over the years… and I have met a few people this year that have shown me that this is not the case. And that it’s okay to be any which way you are.

♥That sometimes a change will do you good. I may not have chosen all the changes that have happened this year… but all in all they have been the best things that have happened to me! Woot woot– higher quality of life–

♥That I’m a good worker. The first time I was ever eligible for a review and it… went really well.

be the Leslie Knope of what you do

♥ That giving people a chance can be a great thing and lead to great relationships… it can also get you stalked. Both have happened this year.

♥That engineers are very awkward… but also so, so adorable.

♥That it’s okay to be a little more on the flashy side of life.

Bernadette Peters is the best!

♥That sometimes space away from certain people, is what you need more than anything. Because they are making you stall in the things you want to get done.

Not anymore!

♥Some times nothing beats good friends, and cheesecake.

The "Golden Girls" Drinking Game Is Something You Need To Play Right Now

♥That you will do so many things for people who are important to you… including getting lost in the Hollywood Hills. And it’s nice to get to do those things

♥ And that Paul McCartney can still really perform.

Things I will do this year:

♥Start a business that involves my art for real this time. I have seen so many people who do this, at my new job… and I want to be more like them!

♥Participate in all the things I can. Except for really boring stuff, that I still won’t do

♥Create the costume my doodle is wearing for Halloween. It comes from this music video which is one of my favorites:

I want to be dressed like this dreamy 22nd century rooster

♥Go to Spain, I have the money to have a very nice vacation… and that will never be enough money to buy a house in California.

And with that I thank you for reading this and looking at my silly doodles. Here’s to a super wonderful year.

Gino’s Day Off

I love 80s movies.

If you know me or read this website you may already know this… because it’s one of my favorite thing to talk about.

Here is my interpretation of my co-workers and all around hilarious friends as Ferris Bueller and company:

I ended up being Cameron, because I couldn’t pull of that sweet leather jacket Elisa has on.

And Gino really needs that vest in real life. Ladies love leopard vests.

Danke schön!

A Beautiful Conference

Today I was given the daunting task of putting all of the fixtures my company uses in the conference room to be reviewed by the head honchos of the company.

My boss naively told me to pin-up on the north side of the conference room. I told him that I may need a little more space than that.

Flash forward 2 hours later all 3 walls of the conference room are covered in our fixtures. Actually every surface had fixtures taped on it, besides the glass wall. And even that wall had fixtures pinned up on it’s column.

It was pretty overwhelming to see that many drawings all at once… it actually reminded me of something… something from a movie:

it was like a ‘beautiful mind’ but a lot less exciting

Boy is there going to be a lot of work to get done tomorrow.

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA BUTTGIRL!

I have been seeing some weird clothes lately.

Like really really weird clothes.

And although I believe people have the right to express themselves in many ways, maybe work isn’t the best platform for this.

Now that I work in a more fashion forward business, I have noticed that the clothing too is much more “fashion forward” too.

  • Men Dressed like Duckie from “Pretty in Pink.” Check.
  • Women dressed in lace see-through leotards, with a black bra and business pants. It is like Lady Gaga went corporate.
  • A girl who wears rompers made for 3 year olds– her butt has been seen by all! And this has also inspired me to wipe down the seat in the cafeteria anytime I sit there. No, I don’t want to sit there.
  • Women wearing swimsuit tops with mesh shirts over them. Is my shirt see through enough?
  • And that girl who is trying to make wearing a tarp with unlaced combat boots happen. How does she make it up the stairs? I barely make it up the stairs in flats!
  • And my favorite… the petite man who dresses like a 1990s gangster rapper. Including tied bandanna, It’s like I get to see the dantiest Tupac that could ever exist.

Tomorrow I hope that I see someone dressed like a flamingo or like a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In fact, I’m pretty sure of it.

Cinco de Mayo

Today on this glorious Cinco de Mayo I want to share a simple story.

My new work is amazing and offered delicious churros today. I being a churro enthusiast took full advantage of this. I may be exaggerating but I literally think all I ate was churros today. My coworker said I had the energy and enthusiasm of a chipper squirrel.

I think that is a good thing.

Anyways Happy 5th of May!

Also did you know that it’s Oyster day? I mean while you are throwing back some margaritas and Coronas you might as well throw some oysters your way too!

I’m going to recover from my sugar high now….
