Something to talk about

Sometimes I wonder about the things that wander through my brain. I mean don’t you ever wonder what your mind thinks about the most???

Is it friends? Family? Work? Spongebob Squarepants?

And then I realized I don’t need to record my words or discuss this with a professional. This blog is basically my brain, but illustrated.

So I went to wordle and made a word cluster. And because I’m a constant daydreamer I was not surprised with the results:

chicken, happiness, jewelry and cleanliness is basically all my mind thinks about…. and for some reason also Luxembourg.

The result clearly shows my mind is that of a Valley girl who thinks about chicken, the weekends and Luxembourg.

Now I’m practically convinced that I am what would happen if Morrissey and Cher from Clueless had a child.

What do you think about most?

Stress, Potato Salad and Happiness

Happy April Fools Day/ First Day of April/Kris Marshall’s birthday/ 88th Anniversary of the Formation of The Royal Canadian Air Force.

Today I have had a lot to deal with:

-really stressful deadlines! I mean I was already running late today and then I come in and everything is the worst and due at the same time… Um give me a moment to panic:

I already didn’t take a lunch! I can’t find extra time!

-Trying to set up appointments so my car can look less crunchy from behind. Never a problem for a Kardashian… but, it’s a problem from my car’s rearside.

FUN FACT: I drive a candy bar. And… well summers are very sticky.

-making my stapler fancy:

It’s costume is so cool it’s now in the Justice League in the corner of my desk… The Scurvy Stapler of Justice is here!

– Defeating the evil in my general area. It’s a real affliction over here. And for a few weeks I’ve retreated… but there is only so long I can be pushed around until I get all well Warrior Princess on you.

Your Nonsense: I will shut it all down! All of our office supplies will have faces!!! BWA HA HA!

-eating my potato salad while it was still cool from refrigeration .

It’s been out of the fridge since 9!!!!! And now it’s lunchtime!!!!!

(The last one was much harder than it sounded. It took about 45 minutes to get to eat it between all the work I was doing, and our office fridge is still not functioning.)

But today is just not a day I want to remember being stressed out for. Because, I choose no to! There has to be a silver-lining to this Garfield grumbling of a Monday! So now that I’ve finished 2 deadlines, some mildly cool potato salad, and set up an appointment for my car to get some reconstructive surgery… I can share something really wonderful with the people who read this blog:

“San Francisco” from the Mowgli’s- this song is like sunshine and love had a baby, and their baby became musical.

This song according to Amber is very hipster. It probably is, but I think it is 100% fun. And you can hear it blaring out of my car everywhere I drive lately. And I even have a horrible Polynesian/ belly-dance dance for it!

And here’s a little doodle to go along with all the joy in this post:

It is because you make it that way!

Sentimentally Me

Do you ever think about what’s important? Like what means the most to you in the whole big universe? Would they be important to another person from the other side of the world?

Mine are nearly 100% sentimental, I’m a sentimental kind of gal. I always think, “things” shouldn’t be your in your lists of favorites. But as much as I enjoy the sun popping back up after a few grey days and seeing kids play with bubbles, or watching old chunky dogs giggle down a sidewalk… I still can’t help some of my favorite things being tangible objects.

A few examples, my navy sweater from my high school… I still wear it, and every time I wear it I feel sentimentally fantastic (also, a little bit like a nun from the 1950s.) My favorite toy from my childhood, is a stuffed animal of Littlefoot from the “Land Before Time” and he resides on my sleek modern desk chair… and I smile every time I use it and see him sitting there. Also, I smile because I imagine Herman Miller does not design their fancy chairs to shelter my childhood memories…

I still have loads of letters written from my high school friends and even a few spectacular ones from middle school… full of stories about the cutest boys we went to school with, teachers who were a little to attentive to our teenage existences, and one of the funnest word games you could ever fathom.

And if I were to come home and find them gone, I would be beyond devastated like on par with people stealing my car and my computer, or stealing the crown jewels from the Queen. I’m that serious about my silly junk, okay. But the thing about these objects (and unlike the crown jewels) is that and when someone else would have them in their possession, they would have none of the feeling. They would see a thick navy sweater from a Catholic girls school, a dinosaur toy with a really worn neck, and a pile of useless paper.

Not that I’m equating my worth to a sweater, dinosaur and pile of paper… but going through my belongings I understand that most people outside of my brain just wouldn’t understand why a notebook of drawings is more important than a pair of fancy earrings…

And that brings me to this… my first attempt of making wordy art. The quote is from “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” and it is Mr. Magorium explaining his records to his new straight lace accountant. Also I think it sums up 82% of the paper discovered in my house… as everything has a doodle on it:

Have a nice weekend, and enjoy something really, really simple… and don’t be embarrassed about it. I’ll be working on a few projects and pretending to be fancy, personally.
