The Sun’s vacation

1 Jul

Today I heard that I always look like I’m up to something mischievous.  But today they were actually right.

I was up to… secret doodling.

And it’s even better than just secret doodling.  It’s about Alaska. Where my brother is at this very moment. And where he’s experiencing quality with well…

According to my phone weather app there is no sunrise or sunset there today… just sun all day and night.

I hope you have weird nighttime goggles or something Bro.

    Thanks Sis!

Nighttime goggles would be good. No, we just have dark window shades. Last “night” was a clear “night”, so at 1 AM, it was REALLY bright in my room. It is really hard to get back to sleep at that point. :)

Fortunately, most of the time it’s overcast or foggy here, so it’s at least dimmer during sleep period.

Oh, and the mosquitoes just woke up. Oh. My. God! They are Horrible!

I feel so sad thinking about this. When I see sun I can’t sleep at all! I’m going to have to make a drawing about how you are being visited by the mosquitos of the endless summer.

It’s kind of like Frozen: The sky’s awake! So I’m awake! But with less magic and no talking snowmen. I did see a caribou (reindeer) the other day though! I don’t know if his name was Sven.

As for the mosquitoes, they are big. Not as big as I had been lead to believe by others who had been to/lived in Alaska, but still big.

Other than the bugs, and the constant sun, it’s quite nice up here! Cool weather, the snow is finally melted, I can actually walk outside without some kind of protective gear on! Nice!
