The Translation

I have not been posting lately and it’s because I don’t know what I should be posting. How can one little happy Lauren feel so feisty during this season. All I have wanted to do is just enjoy my family and a season where we cover everything in lights and sparkles.

But things keep happening:

-Like having to be around people who don’t like me… in a party setting.

-Being yelled at by a woman in the Disney story while picking up a present for my nieces. (I accidentally walked into the cashier line while I was looking at stuffed animals, she chastised me for my carelessness, and I thanked her for her holiday gratitude.) (Also, sorry Tony and Season… I already bought them more toys.)

-Having to witness grown people throwing fits about the “quality” of presents they are receiving. I don’t care if it’s not a designer… it is nice because someone thought of you when they found it… and not everyone can afford Cartier.

Thie following doodle was inspired by the mariachi my family has on Christmas eve at our family party. And I am dedicating a message to all you holiday kerfluffers:

It’s  just so hard to like it, when it’s being a grinch!!!!

So even thought Santa is on vacation until next year…I’m just saying you should just be nice… or I’m going to shake a maraca in your face… And remember no one wants a maraca in their face before the new year!

Happy last days of 2012 everybody!

Isabel Stare-a-thon 2012: Up Close and Personal

As a safety reminder I just want to say that I know that the stare-a-thon is very exciting. But please don’t hurt yourself while trying to get that upclose stare. You may not really be there in person. And I cannot send tylenol to everyone who whacks their head on their computer screen.

This is mostly because I use advil and don’t give out my address to strangers. Be safe starers.

Isabel Stare-A-Thon 2012: First Saturday

First Saturday of the Stare-a-thon is here. That means you have no pesky work to hold you back from staring at the one and only Isabel, (unless you have work on Saturday, then you should go to work.)

The best part about weekends and the stare-a-thon is that you can have many people over to have a few drinks, eat some gelato… and stare until their eyes fall out:

And remember:

Isabel Stare-a-thon 2012: At the Drive in

Looking for a great group activity to participate in while staring at Isabel?

Why don’t you head down to your closest exterior cinemaplex and see Isabel the way she was meant to be seen…

On a big screen with hundreds of strangers gazing upon her in 1080p resolution! Don’t accept inferior fuzzy Isabels!

And remember this years theme when you are out with your friends and loved ones:

Happy Hour

So I’m not the biggest drinker. But I am a fan of happy hour. And not just because that is when drinks are most affordable, but because of the name. Happy Hour. I think more hours should be dedicated to  happy, and not just because I like to have a drink or two… but because we need an hour where the world is not driving us mad and an hour to pretend like we have never heard of cell phones or the internet. You know, time to just be.

Also if I had a happy hour it would have alcohol and desserts. Because I don’t know if there are two things that could make people happier.

True story: I’m not the biggest drinker. And  I never quite know what to drink… and well I know alcohol is not the tastiest thing… so I’m not that picky. And a lot of the time when I order drinks I sound like this:

I’m going to get my happy hour on now.

Sandwich Day!

Oh my goodness. An honest to goodness Saturday post!

This hardly ever happens. Really think about it, on Saturday’s when I am not renting my time to a computer… I am out in the world giggling, running, and spending my paychecks on books and clothes.

But today I’m excited to say is a special day and I thought I would share…

IT”S SANDWICH DAY!

Yes a day designed to celebrate or love of bread and meat and fixing’s all together in one beautiful entrée. So today go out and sandwich it up:

Be like Liz and wolf a teamster sub for someone you love.

I’m going to make mine chicken…

Practice, practice, practice

I’m no Alanis Morissette here. And the person this subject is about is not even as cool as Dave Coulier… who as we recall was not even the coolest “Uncle” on “Full House”…  But anyways, I digress. The drawing exists, and I should be able to share anything on my own site without fears of other people being insulted.

And if you have the world’s weakest constitution, you are on the best website on the interwebs  because nothing I post is gory or even remotely scary… it’s not even Al Gore-y on this site. Oh yeah, never mind the puns… I was presenting a doodle:

I may even print this on business card size paper, and give it out to people so they can have “official unapproval” from me. Can you imagine, you could be thrilled to get a doodle, and then realize it’s because I think you are like 12 thumbs down. (I counted my thumbs and the surviving Jackson brothers thumbs as well.)

I actually have had this drawing drawn and colored for a while. I made it when I was madder at people, even though it doesn’t seem very ragey, I was very very mad. But I kept telling myself, that it’s too not nice to post. However, lately I have felt a change in myself  that I rather like. I’ve been sharing that change with the good people who come to my site for some giggles and with my close friends in my everyday existence.  And darn it, this drawing wanted to be shared.

I hope you enjoyed it and remember, never tick off a girl who can photoshop and doodle up a response in a matter of seconds!

The Secret Professional

So a few people have been asking… what is going on with the professional? Why are there no posts any more guiding me to the professional promise land? This has a complicated answer… as earlier this year the professional we knew did a King Edward VII , and abdicated his professional throne. The Kingdom of Professionalism was then thrown into anarchy and professional turmoil,  after the great battle and the “Treaty of Dab and Lauren” an interesting event transpired…

I think there is a new professional in town… and her name is my name too.

And I don’t know when it happened. I feel like some sort of were-professional…

In the last week:

♥ I have been carrying business cards in my purse

♥ I was caught updating my contact list

♥ I’ve worked late 2 nights in a row

♥ I’ve had a business meeting after work hours

♥ I used the term “collated” more than once in the last 8 hours

♥ I’ve been making lists with bullet points! (Although, the bullets are love hearts ♥)

Anyways the polls are in and it looks like I’m the new professional in town:

And on a “I work in a weird place” side note yesterday Amber and I took a quiz about who we are in the office and this was my answer:

And I was not surprised. That description is my 8-5, every Monday-Friday. The only difference is I have no Jim to giggle with all day… Okay, I’m going to go CC: people on some work like things ;)

It’s not me… It’s you…

This post for many reasons must be short and sweet. There are some people in your life that are incredible blessings, and there are some people that aren’t. And we don’t always see that people are bad influences on us until something major happens. And then sometimes you still try to be blind to it… for one reason or another… and then you find yourself buying handfuls of lip-glosses in shades you aren’t even sure you want to wear… Oh, wait that’s just me.

Speaking of me I did something I’ve needed to do for months, took a break. And my eyes were opened. I saw miles of consignment shops, and deserts, and some of the most fabulous people you could ever meet… and then I realized the best thing ever:

And it doesn't look good for you

And I deserve to be happy whenever I please.
