Red Friday

I know that March is all about St. Patrick’s day and spring, so I should be decked out in florals and greens.

But lately I have been so obsessed with red.

Like everything I usually choose yellow, or green, I have been make it red. Nail polish, accessories, lipstick (I don’t wear green lipstick) but seriously, I want it red and I would also like that red to be shiny.

Maybe it’s because it hasn’t stopped raining in California and I am jonesing for a color I can’t get right now, as every single thing in my day is coated in gray.

Or maybe it’s because I’m doing what I want to do and I feel powerful?

Or maybe it’s because I got a new coat that is the color of the most delicious strawberry?

Maybe it’s all those things.

So Friday seems like the day to celebrate it.

Now that I have an instagram, this webby is not always my first thought. But, the think about instagram is I don’t want to write a fun story to go with the drawing.

Not being Subtle

Hey Internet!

I wanted to say thanks for all the years of this blog and working on my skills as an illustrator. I have had a very strange month, it was sad at some parts, exciting at others. And all together memorable for my next goals in life.

I got a job, actually illustrating. And it was really thrilling, so it’s Freelance but, it’s amazing!

And it made me feel really great.

I am trying to be more conscious about posting more… even though I’m super busy. But I had to share that every day I’m getting closer to doing more things that make me happy. I hope this November finds you well!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite days and I’ve really been living it up dressing and spiders and bats for the last 31 days. It’s all coming to an end though, a sparkly end. This year I decided to dress as a glorious cactus and well, it was fantastic!

Birthday Flowers

I was going to post something that had to due with my never ending cavalcade of life failures. But after I had lunch with a friend I realized it really isn’t so bad. I wouldn’t be who I am without failures, and there was no way I wouldn’t have tried.

It’s just one of those things… that just didn’t work out for Ol’ Laurie Lue

BUT!!!!

Then this morning I heard it was one of my fashion icons/ cosmic twin’s birthday!!!

And I live for Birthday’s…

Especially… Brandon Flowers!!!

Not only is he the lead singer of the “Killers”… but he also has a penchant for the Cure and wearing fashion while carving out some melodies of his own that have a special place in my soul.

He also reminds me that I really need to get a gold lame leopard print tuxedo… just for funsies.

Measured in Melody

Yeah… it’s been a long time.

I don’t know if anyone comes on here anymore.

But I still kinda exist in the world. And I’m always making art.

But I’m not always writing stories, which is kind of a bummer… and I’m wickedly out of practice.

For a quick countdown of updates of what’s happened in my life since my last post read below:

  1. I have have several new jobs- one of them is moderately successful freelancer of illustration
  2. I have helped several companies make graphics for marketing purposes
  3. I’m making a book
  4. I have gone from not visiting New York ever to visiting it 2 different season of the last year. I took a train between states in the United States and that was weird.
  5. I have seen seasons… and discovered there aren’t really any in California.
  6. I never grew taller
  7. I made a stunning mermaid Halloween costume
  8.  I learned about premiere league soccer
  9. I have an instagram where sometimes I even show my own face: viciouslysweet08
  10. I’m still obsessed with music and illustrating people who I see every day

Drawing Challenge day 21

I’ve been having some rough days and I really just realized I haven’t even made any of these posts even though I’m drawing them!

Today is a day I chose. Draw and American Idol!

And not in a Ryan Seacrest way!

So I drew one of my favorite ladies…. who is so American and is everything America is about!

Dolly Parton.

She is a self made celebrity and is so talented and warm and lovely. Also she has the best… wigs in the entire world!

Today’s drawing challenge is to draw the most current cool guy, Chris Pratt!

Although he’s like so cool and tames dinosaurs and saves galaxies. I still like whe he was simple and adorable Andy from “Parks and Recreation”

This is a part of Andy Dwyer’s confessions. One included he didn’t know who Al Gore is… and this point he’s afraid to ask.

And that really makes him one if my favorite TV characters ever.
