you may know Jimmy from this blog as my friend who likes Santa Barbara and that I think is very much the only person I met who can be a really specific Abraham Lincoln impersonator.
because he’s tall
because he’s got brown hair
These are all the qualifications needed to be Abraham Lincoln according to my brain
Something else you may not know about Jimmy is that he like flamingos.
Like in the way I like chicken… except he doesn’t eat flamingos.
They are full of hot cocoa, planning your next years Halloween costumes, and really more birthdays than you can shake a stick at.
And today’s birthday is totally a good one.
In addition to being Sadie Hawkings Day and World Kindness day… it’s also Veronica’s birthday.
You may be asking yourself… who is Veronica?
And you are totally right for asking,
She is one of my college buddies who I would love to share a little bit about with you right now!
-Veronica is a very talented artist, she can make very fancy drawings.. in fact we have collaborated on one
-She literally has like 40 bookmarks with hobbits on them
-She still owns every copy of “Circus” magazine. Which was an alternative rock version of “Tiger Beat”
-She never ever complains about my music choices
-She still uses her high school yahoo email, like a proper gangster
-She loves all kitties, and has a rather handsome gray cat who likes to sleep on her workspace
-She is great to go to the movies with and always dresses in theme with the movie you are about to see. It’s like Disneybouding… but like totally way better
-And she has dreams of sharing her love of 90s glam rockers with the world… Specifically Amir Derakh, and his majorly contrasty hair:

And more than all that she has dreams of costumes like Elisa.. maybe it’s a November thing???
Any who… her is a drawing of her as Honey Lemon from Big Hero 6:
Isn’t she all super hero-ey? She also looks like this all the time… her street clothes are her real costume
So I have been in the center of a lot of changes recently.
And I am really behind on even mentioning birthdays, or anything of that nature! I will totally make that up some other time, probably with my award winning Paul Simon impersonation…
But today is an exciting day!!! It’s a birthday of one of my favorite people of all times….
DAB!
Although at this point I haven’t worked with him in over a year, I think he’s a magical creature. It was always claimed at my first job that I played favorites… and that my favorite person in the office was Dab.
And now that I don’t work there… Duh! I mean anyone could tell that he was totally my favorite.
Quite simply in my book, Dab always wins. He can win any game, any argument (unless it’s with me), and even extra food that I don’t feel like eating. Dab… wins it all!
And to celebrate the shear spiciness of my friend of the last 8 years, I give you this simple doodle:
Happy Birthday! I hope your year is magical.
And yes… the doodle is too cutesy, but as you know cutesy is just my style :)
I have never really feared aging… maybe because I feel happy about pretty much everyday.
And apparently everyone at work thought I turned 23… so super bonus?
I got treated very kindly by my new coworkers and friends and…. really just had a great time.
I usually use this post to reflect on the last 12 months and set a few new goals… which I will happily do if you continue to read on
Things I learned at 28:
♥ That I’m not all together that weird. I was made to think that most people aren’t terribly creative or prone to fantasy over the years… and I have met a few people this year that have shown me that this is not the case. And that it’s okay to be any which way you are.
♥That sometimes a change will do you good. I may not have chosen all the changes that have happened this year… but all in all they have been the best things that have happened to me! Woot woot– higher quality of life–
♥That I’m a good worker. The first time I was ever eligible for a review and it… went really well.
♥ That giving people a chance can be a great thing and lead to great relationships… it can also get you stalked. Both have happened this year.
♥That engineers are very awkward… but also so, so adorable.
♥That it’s okay to be a little more on the flashy side of life.
♥That sometimes space away from certain people, is what you need more than anything. Because they are making you stall in the things you want to get done.
Not anymore!
♥Some times nothing beats good friends, and cheesecake.
♥That you will do so many things for people who are important to you… including getting lost in the Hollywood Hills. And it’s nice to get to do those things
♥ And that Paul McCartney can still really perform.
Things I will do this year:
♥Start a business that involves my art for real this time. I have seen so many people who do this, at my new job… and I want to be more like them!
♥Participate in all the things I can. Except for really boring stuff, that I still won’t do
♥Create the costume my doodle is wearing for Halloween. It comes from this music video which is one of my favorites:
I want to be dressed like this dreamy 22nd century rooster
♥Go to Spain, I have the money to have a very nice vacation… and that will never be enough money to buy a house in California.
And with that I thank you for reading this and looking at my silly doodles. Here’s to a super wonderful year.
It’s my desk buddies birthday… so today was a wonderful celebration of her that included a desk decorated in “Under the Sea” paraphernalia and with lots of pie.
And although work is well… sometimes hard to get through. Elisa makes it a blast for all the hours we are there together. We giggle, walk to 7-11 for slurpees, talk about our weird fascinating lives and wait in long lines for well her to get coffee. And she totally enjoys laughing at me when I turn bright red talking to the cute guy from the office down the hall.
And it’s all amazing. So amazing that my boss is moving me… to Siberia. In hopes that I won’t talk to anyone.
Well until then, we shall party and giggle and get our work done!
This was Elisa’s Halloween costume this year. She really has it together for being 28 :)
Happy Birthday Elisa I hope you have a wonderful year!
Yesterday was one of the best days in the whole history of things that happen.
It was Nancy’s Birthday!
Yes you may know Nancy from being a doodle in the bar on the right side of the screen, or being deliciously described on my about page. But she’s so much more! She’s my giggling companion, listens to all my silliness, and can make a great meal… but maybe not a cupcake :)
But I must apologize for my tardy drawing. But quite candidly I didn’t get the drawing up because well, I was too tired from work to get it colored… and well it needed to be colored!
So without further ado:
I almost sorry to tell you that I was inspired by Pocahontas… and if they monitor the internet at my work (which I know they do). They are going to be who is this girl who google searches elevators, what they are serving for lunch, and pocahontas? Who could be that fascinating? Well that person would be me.
