Somewhere being obsessed with the ocean and watching a lot of movies… I made this little doodle:
I can actually say I have felt like a bird that fell in love with a fish at some point in my life. And well, we never figured it out.. so I fly, and he swims and we don’t ever ever cross paths.
I don’t know if it ever could have worked. And I guess since the sky is full of opportunities there is no real reason to think about it.
But I’d like to imagine the fish and the bird in the doodle can totally figure it out. Don’t you?
And where does this phrase come from? Does it show up in more than “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Ever After”?
And I really like when that happens because, I can make something super nice for someone!
Apparently last year when I drew myself as a mermaid I started a frenzy of other people I know who also never got to realize their mermaid potential. I was hearing right and left from others who felt that they too needed to be a creature of the sea!
One of those wonderful people was Sarah! The adorable sister of Jimmy!
And even though I took a moderate eternity to finish it… Here she finally is…and I would like to present to the entire internet.
Sarah my mermaid homegirl:
She’s fishtastic! No wait she’s mer-iffic!
It’s so hard to be a mermaid in the Valley. But she’s totally doing it everyday complete with a classy, flashy, fish friend. She has the best mermaid style is all sorts of sparkly purple, has constantly color changing follicles… and is the best caretaker of sea horses in the whole Pacific.
This is pretty much on her business card.
I hope you like it Sarah! And I hope everyone has a super great weekend.
I’m off to the beach… to celebrate my bestie Isabel’s bachelorette party this weekend and not necessarily to become a mermaid.
Have a nice weekend everybody!
♥Lauren (who is going to be a mermaid no matter what)
Today I had a kinda crunchy day. No, that was not a typo. I was rear-ended when trying to get an affordable lunch. All I can say is neither me or the girl have any serious problems, just some achiness. Also, the lunch didn’t really taste like the majesty of savings I had anticipated.
But… there is always a brighter side. So I tried to think of something I could draw on my salvaged work paper… Something that would make me smile as I drew? And then I thought of pretty much the best thing ever… I could draw an extra fancy drawing of one of my readers!
And today that person is the lovely, hilarious, and well written Cakes McCain of “Pasta For One”!!!!
Although I have never met her in real life, I feel like Cakes is a sister in the world of girly activities. I think she’s super amazing for running away from North America for that sunny peninsula of a country… Italy! In the land of the Pope, she set our to find love and fortune. I mean how romantic of a notion is that? Who does that nowadays? Answer: Awesome people. And although she has now re-graced the soils of America, all of her Italian adventures serve as a hilarious anecdote in the world of dating and being a young woman of the world. Some other quick reasons I adore her… She understands the importance of “13 going on 30” in a grown up woman’s life, she knows how to Wang Chung, she has given me some stunning advice about enjoying my own life… and most importantly, she shares her world in a Bridget Jones like fashion, with hilarious results.
I do suggest you READ HER STUFF! It’s really funny, and sometimes the visual aids she uses to describe things will make you snort in your cubicle, at lunch, or even while you are sitting in bed with a cat. It’s really happened. And it’s happened more than once.
Also, I have been trying out a few new drawing styles and I’m testing it out with this doodle. It’s a little fancier than my usual blog stuff… So, I hope you like it Cakes! It was very fun to draw. And it’s been really nice knowing you in type.
Illustrated Cakes was the best part of my afternoon!
Now that I know all of you have read her blog, and marveled at her illustrated spaghetti of love. I hope you totally get why I have such a good time reading and knowing this fabulash lady. And maybe the next time I doodle a reader it may be you!
So Amber has a headache today. And she told me that it was killing her brain.
After instructing her to make her pain into glorious art she handed me this glorious friend:
“Headache” by Amber-guesa
Enjoy it and savor the fact your head has no red lightning bolts attacking it today. Also, Amber does not believe she is an artist…. But I believe she is a very good one!!!
♥Lauren
p.s. my favorite part is that she is naked, in her drawing and while she answers phones.
So the Professional moratorium on my mischief has not been successful. Telling me that I have to be good is like asking me to be bad. And it’s totally my own fault, I give into the temptation of me.
So anyways as certainly as my cubicle neighbor has a Gangnam problem, I have a problem with the good old paper and pen. I just realized I have nearly filled my 2012 doodle sketchbook. that is 176 pages front and back… and 1-4 doodles per page side. I only have 7 pages left, and the front inner cover and back cover are already filled.
Hi I’m Lauren, and I have a doodling problem:
I would get help… but I’d rather just draw about it
I’m no Alanis Morissette here. And the person this subject is about is not even as cool as Dave Coulier… who as we recall was not even the coolest “Uncle” on “Full House”… But anyways, I digress. The drawing exists, and I should be able to share anything on my own site without fears of other people being insulted.
And if you have the world’s weakest constitution, you are on the best website on the interwebs because nothing I post is gory or even remotely scary… it’s not even Al Gore-y on this site. Oh yeah, never mind the puns… I was presenting a doodle:
I may even print this on business card size paper, and give it out to people so they can have “official unapproval” from me. Can you imagine, you could be thrilled to get a doodle, and then realize it’s because I think you are like 12 thumbs down. (I counted my thumbs and the surviving Jackson brothers thumbs as well.)
I actually have had this drawing drawn and colored for a while. I made it when I was madder at people, even though it doesn’t seem very ragey, I was very very mad. But I kept telling myself, that it’s too not nice to post. However, lately I have felt a change in myself that I rather like. I’ve been sharing that change with the good people who come to my site for some giggles and with my close friends in my everyday existence. And darn it, this drawing wanted to be shared.
I hope you enjoyed it and remember, never tick off a girl who can photoshop and doodle up a response in a matter of seconds!
Today I am so happy, I have to make a post. But I’m not exactly in the best position to be scanning doodles because I am making a set of drawings for work… it’s so hard to be an adult on a FRIDAY!
So to get to the meaty part of the post. I will say this doodle was inspired by several things… talking about drawing a Rooster in love with my wonderful sister-in-law, Season. And also by the department stores telling me that I should already be Christmassing (what is up with that?)
Any who, lets get to the first wintery chicken of 2012:
And a special request… if anyone out there does encounter snow.. can you make me a snow chicken?
