I think I lost it somewhere between the extensive visits to FED EX Kinkos, the emergency room, trying to find my black eyeliner (which there seems to be a shortage of) and trying to figure out what projects that I’ve worked on in the last 10 years that best describes me.
And doing it all with a cat attached to me.
UGH.
Well enough of that.
February has also been wonderful.
I must say that now that my family has expanded there are a lot of birthday’s in February… and I have not posted about them, because I literally just got out of line at Kinkos.
But today’s birthday is one I have to share… because it’s my sister’s birthday! (technically sister in-law, but she feels like a regular ole’ sister!)
And though she is states away I want her to know that she is the best…. that is why she gets a present and a doodle!
It’s Season’s day and she’s the best!
Happy Birthday Season! I hope that your day is lovely and that your birthday week with Tony home is wonderful.
I made this last year and I apparently forgot to post it.
I made this during a time when all I was doing felt wrong. And I can tell you it came from frustration and me thinking that I was failing at everything.
Now I am not. I know I am not, and I cannot tell you in words how great it feels.
I am now surrounded by books containing knowledge, and people who are happy to see me. It feels lovely. I rarely think about how I felt at the time I drew this doodle now.
I was anxious. I was nervous. I was wishing to be somewhere else.
Is this all too deep for a Friday?
I hope that everyone can keep it together this weekend… but never forget that there are always paper clips there to help. They could be literal paperclips, binders, staples and what nots… or they could be friends, family, or even Mindy Kaling’s tv show.
I hope that if you need them you find paperclips of your own.

P.S I have been reading the history of Uppity Women by Vicki Leon and the works of James Thurber. Both are fantastic.
Today is a very nice day in which we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.
Some people get the day off.
Some cities throw parades.
Most people just think about how much better a place we live in now than when you could get harmed for believing in equality. And that all people are the same, even if they don’t look the same.
But I do not feel like I could properly draw a doodle to describe the importance of these celebrations.
And then Veronica inspired my by sharing with me another holiday of today that is much more easy to draw.
So while thusly celebrating the importance of MLK day… I bring to you the other holiday that happens today:
Penguin Appreciation Day:
Penguins!!!!!
So today when you are sitting back thinking about how amazing your life is right at this moment, because of all the things people in the past have done for us… please also think of a penguin.
Especially my brother who is so far up in Alaska that not even a penguin wants to be there.
Today I want to share with you my most versatile present given to me this Christmas.
The pajamas my mother bought me.
You may say… Have you given up on life? How are pajamas the most versatile thing given to a girl who seldom wears pants and is usually coated in jewelry?
Well… Let me tell you. They are roughly 3 sizes larger than I usually wear. And I can comfortably fit 2 cats in them with me…
So basically now I have clothes that I can fit roughly 20 lbs of additional animal, and at least 1 cooler loaded to the brim with Dr. Pepper and protein bars.
While running around the house stuffing assorted pillows, animals, and pottery in there with me I realized they could provide me with a new type of lifestyle:
And we could all live in there in peace and harmony!
I can now camp across America in a very delightful way… the only thing is I need pajamas that are meant to fit on just a person too.
And don’t for one second think that I didn’t want to call friends and make a blanket fort town with this as it’s foundation.

It still has all the quirk and love, but I didn’t color it or correct it in any way.
It is imperfect. Just like all the things in life.
And isn’t all those silly little oddities and quirks what makes life… perfect?
The new year is here and I’m not going to be a bummer. And I am going to wish you all just enjoy it for what it is… a new year!
But please dear readers, don’t get caught up in all the things you feel you didn’t succeed at last year or in all the goals you set for this year.
Just enjoy it, and make sure no matter what goal you are attaining or whatever you are quitting that you are a perfectly imperfect person…. and maybe remember just have a little fun with it.
I’m not saying goals and resolutions are a bad thing. Just take it into perspective…As for me, I think the goals I have set for myself are putting me in a better direction in life… and hopefully to many more fun adventures.
Today my dear friend Veronica told me that it’s “Mitten Tree Day”
A day when people put mitten on trees.
Now initially I thought it was to prevent trees from getting frostbite or just to feel empathy for the trees that have to stay outside while we are in our comfy homes.
It is actually a day started when a lady noticed some kids didn’t have mittens in really snowy cold weather so she made them and clipped them on the tree so they could take a pair if they needed it. Which is really beautiful, and is something that should be shared. We should all try to something sweet for people in need, with or without the glory. If you think about it we have so much to share with people! Even if you think it’s not much, it could mean something special to someone else!
What I will do at least for right now is make a doodle and hope that it gives someone a little smile on their face:
