Isabel Stare-a-thon: A Family Tradition

Today is a great day. Because almost everyone around me has it off… including me. It’s a day to spend with your family enjoying family things. And what better family bonding moment can there be than to stare at Isabel?

a family that stares together, stares strong

So this Thanksgiving while you are sitting there eating that third slice of pie… give it a go and multi-task some Isabel staring time into it.

And remember the most important thing, you don’t have to stare alone:

Isabel Stare-a-thon 2012: At the Drive in

Looking for a great group activity to participate in while staring at Isabel?

Why don’t you head down to your closest exterior cinemaplex and see Isabel the way she was meant to be seen…

On a big screen with hundreds of strangers gazing upon her in 1080p resolution! Don’t accept inferior fuzzy Isabels!

And remember this years theme when you are out with your friends and loved ones:

Isabel Stare-a-thon 2012: Opening Ceremonies

It’s that time of year again to dust of your periscopes and get into the groove of staring at Californian sweetheart Isabel! Now as you can remember the Isabel Stare-A-thon is the official start to the holiday season. And it is where we take time to show Isabel how much we care to stare at her face.

Now this stare-a-thon has an exciting new development. Isabel has since the last stare-a-thon got engaged… to Dave the man who wants to make every day his own personal stare-a-thon.

And now to announce the theme of this year’s stare-a-thon I must give credit of this brain child to my new giggling accomplice/coworker Jonathon who is excited about his first Stare-a-thon:

So everyone… get ready to get some Isabel Staring Happening!

She likes him… more than SCIENCE!

I am so happy when I hear lovely news…

And this week I heard the best news I have heard in a long time. My friend the astonishing, marvelous, and phenomenal-on-her-way-to-becoming-a-doctor, Isabel is ENGAGED! And she’s getting married to David, who is equally as wonderful as her (it’s a really hard contest to enter though. I mean, I could write adjectives about Isabel’s awesomeness until I pass out from giggling).

Just in case for some of the readers who need a reminder of David…remember him as my captive studio audience? Well now that Isabel and David are going to be a unified front, I will have 2 people in my designated audience! That for all you math wizards is double. I have double the fans now:

My audience of 1 is now doubled! Math, is this how it works?

So basically the day they get married is going to be one of the best days of the year besides Leif Erikson Day and the Isabel Stare-a-thon. I really hope they get married during Nov. 2oth to December 20th as that is the time I have made up a month-long holiday about Isabel. It’s basically begging to have your wedding betwixt it!

So  finally, and simply… Congratulations. I hope you have so many years of incredible joy and the most fun two people have ever had in the history of people having fun! Remember everyday can be the best day you’ve ever had.

My So Called (Unicorn) Life

Earlier this year I adopted a life motto I couldn’t have said better myself:

“No one looks stupid when they are having fun.”-Amy Poehler.

And since then I have really embraced it, I accept all offers if they sound like fun. Sometimes even if they don’t… and I know I can make them fun. And since then I have realized a few things.. the most important is, I live a fabulous and rare existence.

I really do.

I love to dance all over my house to Aretha Franklin songs. Drive to work singing along with Pitbull, drive home singing the songs of Phil Collins. And I draw for hours, sometimes I get paid for it… And then I also doodle in addition to that, just for fun. I can and do decided to go on super fabulous adventures on the drop of a hat… but not to Sea World on a Saturday (you can’t win them all.) I have a closet full of fabulous threads. Tons of lip-glosses and nail polishes… scads of jewelry and shoes. I also just got a pair of sparkly tights in the mail… I really do live a charmed life. And best of all is I have some fabulous friends who let me exist in my sparkly universe, and stop on by on occasion to watch it in real time. And my friends are all so different and deliciously brilliant, I get the thrill to appreciate each wonderful thing about them!

Now about a month ago if anyone had mentioned the fact that I live a rare magical existence I would have burst into tears, because I desperately wanted to be grounded like everyone else I know*.  But lately I realized through a few fantastic people… that I make their days a little brighter. And that really changed everything. I thank you friends for making me feel like the most magical unicorn that has ever existed. I may care more about concerts and charities than business and finances and I don’t know stock options and refinancing… or whatever serious people are into… but I do know that sometimes there is nothing better than watching a Disney cartoon and eating pizza after a hard day.

The world doesn’t have to be such a serious place, it can be full of the joy we make. And I think that is a choice that we make… I choose the fun, even if I look stupid.

Thank you friends for letting me be your unicorn.

It’s the Best Day Ever! Part 2

How can today get better?

I can tell you how! IT’S ISABEL’S BIRTHDAY TOO!!!!!

I’m nearly hyperventilating with excitement at this point! And now I bring to you part 2 of the best day ever!

Okay so besides deciding that Isabel should take the place of “Bill Nye Science Guy” and become “Isabel Science Gal” with beautiful Clay Aiken as her assistant, I have created a list of 10 wonderful things about Isabel on this the day of her birth:

1. She knows where to get some great crepes, and that is a great aid in friendship!

2. She doesn’t like scary movies, to the point where she screams when nothing scary happens!

3. She is genuinely good-natured about practically everything I tease her about. She’s one of those people who take most things in stride. Who else would be in a 9 year (fake) relationship with American Idol Superstar Clay Aiken?

4. Isabel is possibly the best person to stare at ever! We have a Stare-A-thon dedicated to her every November 20th-December 20th, which everyone can join in!

5. She gives the best advice ever… and she doesn’t make you feel like a crazy when you ask her really strange questions.

6. Isabel has this fear of sticky things, that is hilarious… the thought of a child covered in sticky ice cream residue makes her want to die a little.

7. She is the master of science! Actually she’s currently PHD’ing all over the town with science! I bet you she could make a mondo awesome paper mache volcano!

8.  Isabel loves mice so much that she no longer practices science tests on them, she is trying to become the patron saint of rodents.

9. She has the largest collection of Weezer shirts (this may not be true, but it’s what I’d like to imagine.)

10. She once owned a bean bag that was the size of a couch… it was called a love sac. Although the name was gross it was very comfy. She once told me about what happened to it… but I forgot what it’s fate actually was.

So Magical Dr. Isabel. I hope you have a magnificent day filled with lots of deliciousness. I also hope that your year is more fun than inter-tubing with Donald Trump in a pool of conditioner!

The Good Old Sin Gauge

Today I have been super busy being all architectural and such. I should probably get back to it ASAP since we’re enjoying a deadline only the citizens of Wonderland would enjoy…

Anywho… I made a typo that I knew would make a fantastic thing to share! One that is only possible for me to create. So newly added to the vaults of things I incorrectly read/type I bring to you the following typo:

let's gauge this sin
I say my sin gauge is at a solid 6.

At least I caught it before it left the office, it could have been much more disastrous in the owner of the projects possession… or even my boss. Once we sent drawings to a meeting that said “Window Lovers” instead of “Window Louvers” it wasn’t my mistake… but it was hilarious.

I’m going to have to go work on my Sin Gauge now… and draw a ramp or something.

P.S. Happy Birthday Eve to Christine and Isabel!

The Smoothie Pavillion

I am in some need of giggly times today. As I have spent most of my day behind the old computer screen… including most of my lunch. I thought that I would use an instant message conversation about how “RAD” my friends and I are as my inspiration today.

By the way if you were interested, we’re in the 96th percentile of Raddness which is only slightly under people who make bendy straws, and circus people (who I imagine, have the most fun.) Isabel had this brilliant idea of us combining our careers to make something truly wonderful. So I put Isabel’s dream into my brain waves, and combined it with my love of 1980s/1990s pop culture… Which led my brain files to open the Captain Planet folder… So without further ado, I bring to you the coolest collection of Planeteers in Southern California:

And if we combined food, science and architecture… we wouldn’t get a weird guy with Green Hair and a tankini. I imagine we would come up with one of the fanciest most scientific, and archtiecturally significant Smoothie places on the planet:

And that people from around the world would show up for a truly magical smoothie experience. It would be like the apple store of smoothie places. Fancy business people would buy our deluxe smoothies! Giggly Teens would buy our smoothies! People with scarves would drink our smoothies! I don’t know if anything gets better than that.

I’m going to go start our Mission Statement… I think it has to have “through the science of delicious taste” somewhere in it…

Hark! Science Approaches!

Today I personally feel a little boring. Even doodle Lauren wants nothing to do with my imagination. I think its because I suffer from project fatigue (so many days and it still isn’t done!) So I closed my eyes and the first thing that popped into my head was science! And by science I mean Isabel, my brilliant scientist friend!

I am not entirely sure but I think I was supposed to tell her something that is important… but I forgot what that thing was… eh, who knows. So I haven’t wanted to bother her… But when I remember, I’m going to tell her that thing that I need to tell her.

I digress… here’s Isabel is with some science:

Now back to ceiling details!
