You Are So Professional to Meeeeeeeeeeee

Today I felt inspired by a coworker to get down with my inner Weird Al. I was going to take a song from popular culture and craft it to fill the void in this simple office environment.

I feel now like I’m in front of a crowd of fans on a smoky stage. I am crafting words into a precise moment. Capturing it and sharing it with the good people of the world. Now let me break it down to you those lyrics are to the Joe Cocker song “You are so Beautiful”. And that coworker… is the most professional one out there.

I’m sure he’d tell me not to post this because it will get him in trouble with other professionals out there, or some ladies or something. But, I cannot oblige in this must be shared because you Eric… are so Professional to me.

I can’t even make it to the end of the song without crying on my binder clips.

♫ He’s so proficient…. To me
He completed all his deadlines…. he even had TIIIIMMEEE to PROOFREEEEEAD”♫

I have a feeling that Eric will not be amused by this, in fact when he sees this post I’m pretty sure this is going to be his reaction:

He may not be amused. But *tear tear* he’s so Professional (*tear) to meeeeeee

Missfit VS the Boys Club

I am a little weird. I am 26, I like to listen to Phil Collins at work, I am pop culture obsessed, I can talk in song titles (shout out to Jen & Tonic), and I have a cubicle that can rival the childishness of any Pixar employee. Problem is I don’t work for Pixar. I work in the “real world” and the “real world” is not like that Matchbox 20 music video with the same name.

The real world is kind of serious, and also has stupid social rules. Like no limbo-ing during the 9-5. Or actually maybe just my office. It’s such a boys club up in this office that it’s very obvious that sometimes me and the Amber just don’t really get what’s happening.

I think our new sashes demonstrate this:

I think there is nothing we can do except create an X-Men like community… I’m going to say I want to be Jubilee she gets a yellow jacket.

The Grouchy Professional

So today I was being very good in the office, working on all the right things, saving and cross referencing all that I have to do… basically being an angel, okay. And then a certain coworker that I may have made into a meme comes on in, and is not so chipper. Being that I rode into work today on a unicorn of cheerfulness and good tidings. I thought I could do a little Lauren-y humor with him. And then I found out that much like a children’s story about a cantankerous coccinellidae I need to make an allegorical story about being grumpy… that brings me to today’s doodle. BTW this is not specific in anyway or is about any one of my coworkers:

or maybe it is.

The moral of the story is don’t be grumpy with the girl who knows Photoshop.

So everyone else out there in the big old internet, I hope you are having a lovely day. And if not… just make sure you don’t peeve a girl who can make a doodle of you in 30 seconds flat.

P to the S: He’s not so grumpy now that he’s full of the lunch. But still the doodle is done… if you know what I mean.

I’m Loopy: A tale of Fruit and Vampires

In the middle of my loopy adventures. I realized that the pills I have been taking for my back problems have made me unable to retain a thought long enough to draw it… So I sit there with my pen, and draw a literal blank (as in I sit there and draw nothing).

But with inspiration from how much fruit is being consumed in the office this week… I came up with this drawing:

And then because I was loopy, I confessed to my coworkers I don’t understand “Twilight” I only got through 15 minutes of the movie before I decided that if it was a lifetime movie that Vampire would have killed Bella on their date and buried her outside of a warehouse. Where a detective played by Jason Lee would find her body while routinely checking the woods. I have seen too many lifetime movies to see any other outcome. And the worst part is that he would see no jail time because I’m sure the judge would be Jennifer Love Hewitt and I’m sure she would never put anyone in jail because it wouldn’t be nice.

Anyhoo, I digressed again. I hope everyone has a happy weekend… and it’s okay if you like Twilight… please don’t hurt me.

Being sick and the Mystery Lady

I haven’t been making posts with incredible fervor because I have been straight up unable to sit, for about a week. But now that my leg and back have decided to take a chill pill, I can aptly share with you some of my observations about going to the doctor a lot and being in the streets during the time I am usually at work:
-I discovered I am unfamiliar with sunlight, I hardly see it from my windowless cubicle… but when you are being shuttled from doctor to doctor you see a lot of it. And it is very warm and bright. I had to take my sunglasses out of the case even!
– People who are driving about during the middle of the day are either in this incredible-the-world-is-on-fire rush to get where they are going… or will drive 20 mph on a 45mph street.
-Not one doctor I saw out of like 5 doctors got my sense of humor. Most did not appreciate me telling them my leg felt like a thousand knives were pulsing through my veins. Nor did they like me saying my back cramps were like my nerves going to a discothèque. And none of them liked me asking them if they wanted to sing Huey Lewis songs with me… imagine the possible duets!!!!

But there was something that really grabbed me last week when I was traveling about the San Gabriel Valley during my usual work hours…

There was this girl who completely captivated me and today’s doodle is all about that:

Also, this is why I never write in cursive :)

Tomorrow more doodles! And an it’s inspired by another blog! I can’t wait!

Professional Quote of the Day: April 5th

Hello There Professional Quote Enthusiasts!
The time has come to stack up our files, briefly defragment our hard drives and listen to the pearls of professional wisdom only Professional Eric could share.

Today at work there was a discussion about our company and it’s professional standing. Which by the way, our company is practically an architectural Yeti… no one know about us, and we have fabulous hair. As anyone could imagine, Eric was all over this conversation… because he likes to get down with verbal professionalism.

There was talk about newer products we could use, ideas of being more efficient, social media,a guy dressed like a small historic building waving a sign in the streets… And then Eric said the following statement that changed the office as we know it, and propelled him into Jack Donaghy professional territory:

He informed our boss man that has an office revitalization plan under glass at his desk… So, basically he’s going to change our little office into the 6 million dollar man, or into a car microwave… Either would be good.

We have the technology! We can make it better than it was before! Better, stronger, faster.

The Good Old Sin Gauge

Today I have been super busy being all architectural and such. I should probably get back to it ASAP since we’re enjoying a deadline only the citizens of Wonderland would enjoy…

Anywho… I made a typo that I knew would make a fantastic thing to share! One that is only possible for me to create. So newly added to the vaults of things I incorrectly read/type I bring to you the following typo:

let's gauge this sin
I say my sin gauge is at a solid 6.

At least I caught it before it left the office, it could have been much more disastrous in the owner of the projects possession… or even my boss. Once we sent drawings to a meeting that said “Window Lovers” instead of “Window Louvers” it wasn’t my mistake… but it was hilarious.

I’m going to have to go work on my Sin Gauge now… and draw a ramp or something.

P.S. Happy Birthday Eve to Christine and Isabel!

Friday Threats w/ Lauren

I know it’s such a popular thing to be all “Boo… Hiss” at work on Friday’s… but for some reason I’m jumping on that bandwagon this week. And I’m jumping on that wagon with the sweet hot intensity of a bronze metal pole vaulter…. because this work week has been pretty darn brutal.

Like I’m about to hold a candle light vigil to my artistic principles- kind of brutal.

But what can you do…they can’t take my doodles away:

If today was Thursday I would be shining up my red Candies shoes... for those "Summer Nights"

Here’s to a snazzy weekend!

P.S. Happy birthday Justin!

Professional Quote of the Day: March 14th

Good Afternoon Professional quote enthusiasts! Today I ‘m going to take a break from doodling, and return to quoting the San Gabriel Valley’s most Treasured professional…

I have a feeling the moon is in it’s professional sector, because Professional Eric is on professional overdrive! Checking other people’s voicemail messages, saving the conference call, handling people who are selling us architectural services. Eric is on top of all of that…

And, extra bonus now that he’s into watching “Mad Men”… he’s also into professional fashion:

And a man who wears a Double Windsor, is all aces in Professional Eric’s Rolodex. Actually he doesn’t discriminate against ties, but the are mandatory if you want to get professional with him.

What a nice segway into this old photoshop I made:

Have a Professional Day!
